The DFP is impossible to mod like the DFGT. I try to did it last week and the motor gear don't match with axle gear, both haven't same tooth. I try too to mix with a faulty DFGT (backplate, motor and gear motor) and DFP don't calibrate.

Hello Roger,
i fix 2x DFGT with ur instruction......and wowwwwwwwwwwww that weehl is so good with this mod. So i see, some People has troubble with the optical weehl, that it goes broken. I fix my optical weehl with a bit epoxy arround the shaft.....helps very good.
I have found a page cmlaserservice.com/page_g25_g27_optical_encoder_wheel.html was has Laser cuttet Weehls.
My question is: my Optical Weehl has 60 slot Plastic encoder and it work fine on the modified DFGT. I can buy the 30 slot Metal Encoder 2 bring it on and it works better as the 60 Slot Encoder version???
Thks 4 help!!!

You need the 60 slots wheel. If you turn 360º with 30 slots encoder, the wheel will count 180º, and it will need 5 complete turns to calibrate (impossible to do to mechanichal stops) Sorry for my english

The DFP is impossible to mod like the DFGT. I try to did it last week and the motor gear don't match with axle gear, both haven't same tooth. I try too to mix with a faulty DFGT (backplate, motor and gear motor) and DFP don't calibrate. You cannot use the gears out of the DFP, you need to buy them from a shop to be the correct amount of teeth & diametrical pitch. People have asked me what gear it is from and it is: Revco Hard One 10t (10 teeth) 0.7m (module AKA diametrical pitch), the gear comes only in 5mm shaft diameter sizes, so you need to buy a shaft adapter which is: Robinson Racing Reducer Sleeve 5mm-1/8 Any questions or problems from anyone, it is easier to get me on my skype address: Roger_Shrubz

Hi, Sorry I never check forum too often for the people who have been pm'ing etc. Yes you can do the same with the DFP, the optical sensor is already mounted to back of motor so that is one thing less on the tutorial you have to do. Only problem is that a DFP does not have correct gear inside to use, so you would need to buy a metal gear from ebay etc, and a shaft adapter to reduce the new gear down from 5mm to a 1/8 required shaft size. ( I now run a shaft adapter and metal gear now) the shaft adapter I use is: www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXURT7and the gear is: www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/revco_hard_pinion_gear_shaft_ho-0700h-10t-p-11950.html?language=sponly thing is when you drill the holes for moving the motor position, make the screw holes a tiny bit bigger so you can pivot the motor, as the gear is a tiny bit tight I thought. Cheers Roger Hello Roger, your tutorial is very good! The youtube video you linked to, it says you sold the wheel but I figure you still know... The links you mention here, they are for the DFGT or the DFP that someone else asked about? Do you think a metal gear would wear out the black plastic gear mounted to the wheel itself? Could a one piece plastic gear for the modified motor be made by 3D printing? I assume some sanding etc would be required to make the gear teeth precise. I don't have the wheel or any 3D printer or scanner yet. Thanks Ken

Hey guys, I made everything how it's made on the pictures, but i have a problem...When i plugged in the adapter and the calibration starts, the wheel spins only to the right and didn't turn back, and i still hear the motor works..what to do?

hey, i dont want to replace the whole steering wheel because i want to do that later but if i remove the big white gear that makes the noisy sound will it effect my steering or would it just be as normal but without that whining sound.

Hello everyone and thanks for the guide, I'm modifying my old DFP, waiting for the pinion to arrive I have prepared everything you need, when I'm finished I will publish the photos so as to be of help to those who still intend to modify the steering wheel. According to my calculations, a modification to the encoder should be necessary, since it is different from the dfgt that had the direct pinion, that of the dfp is reduced so it must be replaced to have the same ratio (the problem of Desk0 that didn't calibrate should be this).
